The Department of Botany, Government College Kottayam, maintains a Herbal Garden on campus. It is with a collection of important Indian Medicinal plants of India. The Garden was initiated during the academic year 2015 – 2016 with the support of the State Medicinal Plant Board, Kerala. At the initial stage, the medicinal herbs were provided by Service Co–Operative Bank Nattakom – 3839. In addition to herbaceous members, the garden with members of both tree and shrub habits.

The Geology Museum in the Department of Geology, Government College is one of the best museums in South India. The uniqueness of the museum is its vast collection of around 2000 standard samples well labeled and displayed. The samples are collected in the general geological tours and field mapping which are compulsory as part of B.Sc and M.Sc Geology courses. These specimens will represent almost all the major rock formations of the country.
