1. Brief description
History
The Department of Political Science is one of the opening departments in Govt. College Kottayam, established in 1972, with Pre-Degree and Degree courses. It has been upgraded to Post-Graduate Department in the academic year 2012-13. Sanctioned students strength of the Department is 50 for Under Graduate level and 12 for Post Graduate level. It is the only Department where Political Science is offered at UG and PG level in Kottayam District, under Government sector. The department offers quality education for the socially and economically marginalised students from all parts Kerala. The department regularly conducts lectures and seminars with the assistance from Department of Collegiate Education and University Grants Commission etc.. Department has a publishing wing with ISBN recognition and annually publishing academic books and seminar proceedings. Publications are issued at free of cost. The Department has an active Alumnus that engages with various activities undertaken by the department
