General Structure
Our survival is intimately associated with the existence of plants. Deeper understanding of plants is linked with our better life, survival and food security.
History: The Department of Botany was established in the year 1972 under the Mahatma Gandhi University. Since then, the department is offering undergraduate course in Botany.
Major recent Milestones
2013: Tissue culture lab established
2016: Herbal garden with an aim of conservation of rare plants
2018: Microbiology Lab established
2019: New BSc Lab

Intake of students: The department offers undergraduate course in botany with an annual intake of 24 students. The curriculum is as per the CBCSS scheme implemented in M.G. University. Zoology &Chemistry are the complementary subjects. The elective paper for the sixth semester is Agribusiness. The department offers “Agribased Microenterprises” as the Open Course for students from other departments.
